Eva-Last was among the first South African decking suppliers to introduce an eco-friendly alternative to natural timbers for outdoor decking, walkways and other home improvement projects to the country. It painstakingly researched composite decking manufacturers and suppliers around the globe in order to import products comprised of recycled raw materials, and produced in facilities with the lowest GHG emissions available.

‘Green’ is a term too often misused by businesses solely for marketing purposes. Eva-Last promotes its Eva-tech composite product line as a green choice for consumers. However Eva-Last does more than simply put a logo of a tree on its products. Eva-Last continually proves, and improves, its commitment to serving the environment and consumers simultaneously since its formation in 2007.

For many companies, a green end product would justify importing from far away.  Eva-Last, however, was not content to allow the transport emissions associated with importing to offset the overall good of the product in question. Instead, the company chose the bold and drastic move to become a decking manufacturer, and supplier of its own uniquely South African composite product line called Eva-tech. Not only does being a local decking manufacturer allow Eva-Last direct control over the quality of the end product and to save on transport costs, it also impacts the South African environment by recycling plastic straight out of South African landfills and reusing sawdust straight from South African sawmills.

Acting as a local manufacturer and supplier allows Eva-tech to be more readily available to South African consumers, saving thousands of trees both in South Africa and abroad, which would then need to be transported to South Africa at the expense of significant carbon emissions.
