Have a Big Weekend on a Small Budget

Pay day has come but you might still be struggling to get that savings account back to where it was before December.   You know, before you decided to buy the whole bar a round for Christmas instead of paying off your credit card; before you spent your rent money on that great New Year’s party.  With the weekend just a day away you might be wondering how to balance having fun with keeping yourself out of the red.

Fortunately for you there are ways to have a big weekend on a small budget.  The main ingredients for your weekend-o-fun on the cheap are 1) your Eva-tech outdoor deck 2) a bit of sunshine 3) friends and 4) a little creativity.  Here are a few ideas.

How to Have a Great (Cheap) Weekend on Your Eva-tech Deck

Game Day

Not Xbox.  I mean board games, card games – games that actually require an element of social interaction; the kind you roll your eyes at but secretly enjoy.    Invite the neighbours over for Pictionary, Scrabble or Monopoly out on your composite deck.  You all know how to play and have the board hidden away somewhere in the closet.  Make Uno the new Call of Duty while the sun is out.

Home Spa

We just went over this.  Ditch the professional pampering parades (how’s that for alliteration?) and make a spa at home.  Create your own face mask and exfoliator with ingredients you already have in your fridge.  Relax on your sundeck while you enjoy the benefits of a spa centre without the bill.

Pot Luck Party

You’re still in party mode after December but don’t have the cash to throw one.  No problem!  Invite your equally broke friends to combine resources.  Have everyone bring one dish to pass and you’ll soon be sharing a full feast at a fraction of the cost for everyone.

Relive the Reasons that You’re Broke

While your pals are sprawled out on your Eva-tech deck, chowing down on the pot luck food and embarrassing themselves with charades, put up a slideshow of your December adventures.  Serve up the drink that you and your friends threw back many a time over the holidays.  Play the theme song of your vacation.  If you’re gonna be broke, at least be happy remembering why.

    There are plenty of ways to have fun without spending lots of money. You should also include exercising, reading and watching old movies in your post.
