Have a Romantic Valentine’s Day at Home on Your Deck

Happy Valentine’s Day!  Today’s a day to celebrate love, show your special someone how much you care...and drop a ton of cash.  Valentine’s Day is synonymous with spending too much out.  Restaurants just love to hike up their prices on the day of love.  So this year, why not skip the overcrowded and overpriced night out and have a romantic Valentine’s Day at home on your deck?

Your outdoor deck is the perfect place to create the intimate setting you want for this special day.  All it takes is a little effort to transform your ordinary sundeck into an exclusive excursion for two.

Tips for an Unforgettable Valentine’s Day on Your Private Deck

Make it Personal

Tonight is all about you and the one you love.  Add a few personal touches to your deck decor – a few framed pictures of you and your honey, vases of her favourite flowers (vases, plural), or a bottle of his favourite wine.  Wear the shirt your partner bought you for your birthday.  Spray on the perfume or cologne you know they love to smell.  If you’re going for extra brownie points, cook up their favourite meal or one that reminds you both of the last trip you took together.

Set the Mood

Don’t confuse “cheesy” with “effective.”  String up some soft twinkle lights.  Let candle flames burn.  Play old love songs; Frank Sinatra is guaranteed to make her smile.  Dress nicely.  That’s right, guys.  Put on a shirt and tie (preferably a tie she’s given you).  Ladies, don’t let staying in on your Eva-tech deck stop you from flaunting your sexiest heels.

Surprise your Date

You’ve had a glass of wine (or two).   The food’s been delicious.  Now it’s time to surprise your date.   Push back the table, cue the music and lead him or her in a spontaneous dance on your outdoor deck to a song that represents the two of you.  I see you guys rolling your eyes.  But just try it.  Trust me, your date will thank you later for the romantic gesture.

Make your outdoor deck the hottest spot in town tonight.
