Plastic Timber

plastic-timberA tree is only as strong as its roots and your deck is only as strong as its substructure. Eva-tech plastic timber decking will ensure that the top of your deck lasts for years to come, but a solid substructure is essential for overall durability.

You have options when it comes to the material you choose for your substructure. Before making a final decision, carefully consider each one. Eva-Last offers a unique Eva-tech composite joist for those of you interested in a completely WPC or composite deck. However this, WPC or plastic timber joist is suitable only for flat screed surfaces. All other Eva-tech products are strictly for non-structural usage.

Many decks are constructed on uneven ground. For these substructures, steel and structural timber, such as treated pine, are popular material choices. Depending on the specific nature of your deck and building area, either of these options can perform well.

Eva-tech decking helps protect the top portion of the substructure – with the exceptional durability and moisture resistance of Eva-tech acting as a first line of defence. However, the substructure will be vulnerable to deterioration, particularly from below and the sides. Whichever substructure material you choose, it should be well suited to the climate and natural conditions surrounding your deck. Structural timber should be properly coated to deter insect problems down the line, while various types of wood, such as CCA treated pine, can be used. Eva-Last strongly recommends that you familiarise yourself with the different types of structural timber available, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of each. For more information, contact your local lumber yard or send the Eva-Last technical team an enquiry through the automated Enquiry Form

.

Whichever substructure material you select should be installed in strict compliance with the Eva-tech Installation guide . Please refer to this before installing your plastic timber, steel or any other substructure and make sure your contractor has also thoroughly read the guide.
